In 2006 the Hon Paul Caica, Minister for Further Education and Employment announced funding of $450K for Industry Skills Boards to work in clusters to identify the key skills and workforce issues in defence, mining and associated infrastructure. Each of these cluster areas is to undertake a project to the value of $150K to provide for strategies to enhance the workforce capability of defence and mining and to underpin the workforce in SA in the industry sectors feeding in to defence and mining. The Business Services Industry Skills Board SA (BSISB) is a participant in the two cluster project areas of defence and mining. Work has commenced on the projects with initial recommendations expected in May/June 2007.
